Bittersweet

Well, Jax drank from a bottle last night for the first time. It won't be long before I have to get out there and make some sales calls and go to meetings, so I figured we better get him used to having a bottle every now and then. Daddy fed him, and to my surprise, he took it much easier than I thought he would. I guess that's a good thing. It was breastmilk, so at least he's still a breastfed baby!

It was just a little sad to watch my sweet baby drinking out of a bottle. I mean, for 8 weeks, I have fed that little booger - day and night. At least I know he won't starve when I'm gone because he won't take one.

And for comparison

I'm not exactly sure when this picture was taken, but it's of Payton, and I think she's anywhere from 6-8 weeks old.

2 Month Check-Up and Various Pics

Baby Jax had his 2 month check-up today. He did great, even though he got his very first shot. Poor baby. He had the Dtap shot today. He got really red and cried for a minute, but was fine once I picked him up. I then wrapped him up in the Moby, and he went right to sleep. Here we are 2 hours later, and the little guy is still asleep.

So, he weighed in a 12 lb. 2 oz., and was 23.25" long. He is really growing, and I am so happy about that. I'm not surprised though, with as much as that little booger wants to eat!

Here are a few pictures to share.

Jax and his little buddy, Brayden. They are 11 days apart!

Margaritaville Review

I must just say, it's the bomb. It makes the smoothest margarita's ever! It's just like getting one at a restaurant. Yummy!

A Conversation with a 4 year old

Payton: When I get big, am I still going to be named Payton?

Me: Yes, honey, you will always be Payton. But when you get married, your last name won't be Wickliffe anymore.

Payton: [with a really sad look on her face]It won't? Why not?

Me: Because when you get married, you take your husband's last name.

Payton: And I won't live with you anymore?

Me: No

Then she starts crying. So, she decided she's going to marry Daddy and live with us forever. LOL

Payton's first swim of the season

Last weekend Payton decided she wanted to get in the pool. She was dying to, actually. It was warm outside, but the pool water is still pretty chilly. I told her it was too cold, but she insisted. She was so excited. So she stripped down, put on her swimsuit and a new life jacket she got, and jumped in. Watch the video to see how that went.

So, Payton has never been afraid of the water; never. So, I'm not sure what was going on here. I think the main thing was that the water was freezing. I also think it was because there was no one in the water with her. Hopefully that won't happen again!

Lookie what I got!

The margarita's are gonna be on this summer! Yum!!!

Germanfest 2008

We love Germanfest! We go every year to this fun-filled event in Muenster, TX. We debated on whether or not to go this year, what with having a 3.5 week old and all. Since there was lots of family coming into town for the event (and it's hard to miss), we decided to go. When we first got there it was freezing! We ate lunch and sat in the pavilion and the wind was freezing us out. I felt like a horrible mom, and couldn't believe I took my newborn there! Well, after that we moved down to the park part, and it was lower and not as windy, and finally the sun came out. It ended up being a beautiful day, and we were glad we went. Big thanks to Kimi for sitting and chatting with me, and helping me while I fed my sweet baby! So, here are some pictures and video for your enjoyment. Payton had a blast and crashed in the car about 5 minutes down the road. Thank you Lana, for wearing her out! She got to ring the bell, Jeff rang the bell, we ate, drank, visited, and just had a great time!

How cute are they?

For the record, she did ring the bell!

I know, I look like shit in this picture, but, whatcha gonna do?

Don't ask me where she learned the break-dance moves.

He's a Growin'

Jax had his four week check-up, and he looks perfect! He weighed a whopping 9 lbs.! I'm so happy. That means he gained 1 lb. 2 oz. in 2 weeks! Good job, Buddy! And, he's EBF. Go Mama!

On another note, he's been spitting up quite a bit in the past week or so, and visibly in pain sometimes when he eats, and often times not when he's eating. It's obviously gas pain, but it's so hard to relieve. It makes me wonder if it's more, like reflux. Oh, I wish I was a dr. So now I'm trying to decide if I should take him to the dr. and tell him that I've self-diagnosed my infant with acid reflux. I'm sure he would totally agree with me. LOL. I'm kicking myself for not asking him about it on Tuesday.

Ahh Sleep

I just woke up from a nap -- my first nap since being on maternity leave. Can you believe that? You would think I would take a nap everyday, since I am up all hours at night, but I haven't been. It seems like I have just been so busy, I haven't had a chance to nap. Well, I was tired today. So, I put Payton down for a nap, Jax was sleeping (still is, actually), took the phone off the hook and went to sleep. It was Great!!!! Must do this more often. :-)
